Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra in A, K. 622 by Mozart (1756-1791). The Boston Symphony Orchestra conducted by Charles Munch (1891-1968) with Benny Goodman (1909-1986), clarinet. Mr. Goodman was, by far, the best known clarinetist of the 20th century, but his genre was jazz and big band. He left us relatively few classical recordings. Here is one of them. Recorded in 1957. The label says "stereo" on this 1968 reissue, but I'm skeptical because I don't think RCA issued any stereo...

Chopin Waltzes (complete) performed by Artur Rubinstein (1887-1982). Recorded in 1964 at the RCA Italiana Studios in Rome. Rubinstein recorded all 14 of these waltzes in a single four and one-half hour recording session. He was 77 at the time. Symphony No. 1 in D by Gustav Mahler (1860-1911). The Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Eugene Ormandy (1899-1985). This recording includes the movement "Blumine" (Flower Piece) that had been excised by Mahler while revising this symphony in the 1890's. Preserved by the family of a friend of Mahler, a copy of the movement turned up in 1959. Sir Benjamin Britten performed the movement at the 1967 Aldeburgh Festival. It is recorded here as part of the symphony for the first time....

Just months before his death in 1915, Scriabin heard the 11-year-old Horowitz perform in Kiev. He was impressed and encouraged the Horowitz family to continue the young boy's development. Mr. Lucky - Music from the soundtrack by Henry Mancini (1924-1994). Mr. Lucky was a Blake Edwards developed TV series starring John Vivyan, Ross Martin, Tom Brown and Joe Scott. It ran for one 35 episode season beginning in 1959. Mr. Mancini also wrote the music for another Blake Edwards TV effort: Peter Gunn. This recording was made at RCA Victor's Music Center of the World, Hollywood on December 4, 10 and 17, 1959. The orchestra was conducted by Mr. Mancini. Transfer from the original RCA...

Norma by Vincenzo Bellini (1801-1835). The Covent Garden Orchestra and Chorus conducted by Vittorio Gui with Maria Callas, Ebe Stignani, Giacomo Vaghi, Mirto Picchi, Paul Asciak and Joan Sutherland. Recorded at the Royal Opera House on November 8, 1952. It was La Divina's London debut. Note that a young Joan Sutherland was part of the cast.
